Thanks to the Bristol Bird Club’s support of Mountain Empire Birds. Welcome aboard and thanks for your support of this website.
The Bristol Bird Club is a chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society and affiliate club of the Virginia Society of Ornithology. Founded in 1950, the club focuses on birding and conservation in the Bristol TN/VA area, as well as field trips and annual bird counts in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month (except in December) at 7:00 pm in the Expedition Assembly Room at the Summit Building, 1227 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN (behind the Eastman Credit Union) or join us on Zoom.
The Bristol Bird Club (BBC) hosts the Mendota Hawk Watch in September and organizes the BBC Christmas Bird Count and sponsors the Shady Valley and Glade Spring Christmas Bird Counts. There are many opportunities for birding with small groups and for individual efforts to be included in the group’s activities. Field trips to Burke’s Garden and other birding hot spots are made most years. The monthly meetings combine education with enjoyment of birding and the natural world.
The club also has a listserve FreeLists / Bristol Birds to share club information and the latest bird sightings.
